Some comments from family and friends

My sister and I recently needed to look for a care home for my 92yr old father. We selected Manor House to visit due to the amount of detail given regarding the ethos of the home and what their aims are. We were also impressed that all the staff had worked there for such a long time, after dad having one carer after another at home we really valued this consistency. It also proved to us that it must be a good place to work as staff who do not enjoy their work, or feel undervalued to not stay that long. We were and still are very impressed with the staff , the surroundings and the level of care. This was a pleasant change from the clinical surroundings we had looked at previously.  This was definitely the right choice for my father as he would have been a ‘fish out of water’ in a pristine, new environment. No doubt this would be the same for many elderly people. The staff have been brilliant and supportive to my father and ourselves ’bending over backwards’ to assist us with the transition in any way they can. All residents are treated like family, their needs and preferences are known and taken into consideration and they are all treated with the utmost respect. My sister and I have spent a lot of time there in recent days and I feel confident that my dad is getting the best care available. He is very happy with the move from home to Manor House and cannot believe his luck that we have found him such a lovely home. One day we were there the residents were playing skittles, another day the organist was playing with everyone singing along. There is the routine that is needed ‘fish and chips on Fridays ‘ etc and the park is only next door so we can take dad on lovely walks around the area.
We cannot thank the amazing staff enough for the welcome dad has received.

We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that mum is able to spend her remaining years with such caring people. We know it can not always be easy to cope with her inevitable mood swings but it is to the credit of all of you that you are able to maintain a sense of humour throughout all the time she has been at Manor House. It is even more to your credit that you were genuinely able to take her to your hearts and genuinely make it home for her. We are so glad she is able to feel loved and secure.

Thank you for all the help you given to my granddad. He loves being there and I am so glad that he had made so many friends. You make my granddad feel like he is at home and made him settle in straight away. I know it is all of your jobs to look after him buy you do a fantastic job.
